I like the new Speedgoat 6 much better than the Speedgoat 5, and I’ve owned several pairs of 5s.
Positives:
+ Same fit with the wide width.
+ Stiffer front sole and much stiffer heel counter.
+ Brought back the heel loop.
+ Eliminated the horizontal seam between the toe and laces that would occasionally catch on rocks.
Negatives:
– The initial release is only available in eye-scorching colors.
Highly recommended!

The best thing about this shoe is the Vibram outsole, you’ll get great traction on just about any surface. The upper feels great and seems to have quality construction. Love the color, even though many reviewers seem to dislike it. The midsole is more on the firm side but feels very stable underfoot. My feet were a little sore after a few hours on the trail, but they would be perfect for those shorter runs.

Runs small, I had to go up 1/2 size from my regular size. The width seems about right, and the toe box is wider than on the Challenger, which I found to be a bit narrow.
I got these for hiking and found them to be great for that. The vibram outsole is great, very grippy, and the lugs are deep enough to dig in when needed. There’s a good amount of cushioning, but it’s not so soft that it feels unstable. There’s little to no padding in the tongue, so you may want to get some tongue pads to make it more comfortable if you need to have the laces really tight.

People writing reviews about the color and haven’t even tried them onugh! These things are AMAZING! Toe box feels a little wider, great arch support for someone with a high arch. Heels feel super locked in. Can’t wait for more colors, I need them all

Any reviews giving one star for the first released color way (orange/purple/yellow) should be deleted. The color of the shoe makes no difference on how it performs, fits, feels, etc. If you don’t like the color don’t buy it, but don’t give it one star because you don’t like the first color released.
Onto the actual shoe review. The traction is great and the slight padding added to the tongue is a nice addition. The shoe is light and the upper is also more breathable and helpful when it’s hot. With that said it’s narrower and isn’t as plush cushion wise as the 5’s. I felt like the 5’s absorbed the impact from small rocks and roots, but you feel them in the 6’s. It feels like a mix between the Speedgoat 5’s and Tecton X2’s. Great traction and breathable, but a narrower fit and firmer. I personally prefer the 5’s.

FYI. Like others have said, these shoes do run about half a size to small. I usually wear a size 12 in men’s, glad I ordered the 12.5 as well. The 12.5 fit so much better. Don’t be discouraged, however. Different brands and styles can be like that. Besides the half size smaller, I looooooove the sock -like fit of the shoe. It’s light, and the rocker effect at the front of the shoe will help propel me forwards. I specifically bought these for an endurance hiking event I’m doing in Canada and feel confident that these shoes will help get me to my goal!

This is an upgrade done right! Way better fit than its predecessors. Great grip on the most gnarly rocky/loose scree trail I frequent. I was confident with every step on the runs. Great feedback from the mid and the overall cushioning is awesome. SpeedGoat 6, get yourself a pair, keep an open mind and get out there and run that trail like a boss!
Black / Stardust for now..

I got these shoes for my husband and he loves the way they’re cushioned. He uses them for every day walk and they’re soft but balanced. He used to struggle with plantar fasciitis and Hoka shoes seem to be THE shoes to help with this problem. The colors are vibrant and the material is nice. Highly recommended.

These are the first pair of shoes I’ve owned that feel like they are engineered. Zero pain in my heels after getting these.
Don’t need my arched insoles any more either.
I’ve since bought two more pairs.

Since I bought My first pair of HOKA’S….I have SINCERELY….have stopped using ANY OTHER TYPE OF TENNIS SHOES and so far own 3 pairs of HOKA’S and counting….I truly hope I can become a Speaker for HOKA some day. Now if I can Only find all the colors in the sizes I’m looking for…..My plan is to buy every color till I own them all. I finally found a 13 EW

Have two Speedgoat 5 and they are 11D. The Speedgoat 6 is cut about 1/2 size smaller. I ordered the 11 1/2 D and they are fine

Original was 1/2. Size too small .The replacement was perfect. HIOKA customer service was excellent in helping with return of original and prompt shipment of the replacement.

Speedgoat 6 is a great sneaker. A wide toebox and a lower heel height, but not less cushioning, along with a stable base, really make this a great off-road running shoe.

First of all, I’m one of the lucky ones…every US 9.5 fits me in every brand. Running shoes don’t give me blisters, even after 15 miles, I don’t complain about laces, tongues, and toe boxes. They all just seem to work for my skinny, high arch. What I am sensitive to, and will complain about is cushioning, specifically in the forefoot, outsole durability, stability, since I overpronate on my right side, and I can tell how well a running shoe works for me after about 10 miles into a run. I rotate several pairs of shoes from different brands and many are delegated to 6 miles or less. The Speedgoat 6’s are ultra-marathoners for me! The midsole is not the typical Hoka feel…it pretty firm but the stack is high and you can feel there’s a lot under-foot. They are very protective, and the firm but ample cushion keeps my feet and knees happy for as long as the rest of me can last. The forefoot cushioning keeps the ball of my foot from getting fatigued better than any trail shoe I’ve tried. The traction on extremely technical terrain, such as slanted singletrack on hill edges and hills you have to bomb in order to get up, is second to none. Outsole durability is also very good. These shoes weren’t meant for any type of pavement, and I’m sure the grippy lugs would wear off quick, but otherwise, as intended, they last. They are pretty good out of the box on comfort but they soften up for about 50 to 70 miles. I feel like people are giving these shoes less than stellar reviews. To each their own, but they are for amazing trail runners as far as I’m concerned.

Have wanted a pair for some time. Finally bit the bullet and wow. Have zero complaints and fit perfectly , which is always a concern ordering online.
SJC –
The HOKA trail running shoes have been amazing with zero complaint for the fit, durability, traction, and other key features.

I walk and work a lot on elevated property. This works great. Very lightweight.

I got these after trying the Challenger 7, I had always used Speedgoat since the 4th iteration before that. Challenger 7 to my feet is like a brick compared to the Speedgoat 6. There were a few outlier bad reviews that made me try not want to try to Speedgoat 6 which was a mistake on my part. Speedgoat 6 fits great for me, there is a negligible tightness in the toe box compared to the Speedgoat 5, but not enough to bother me. If you have wide feet definitely get the wide version. I ran a quick 5k after putting them on for the first time and it felt great as if it was my already broken in 5’s on my feet. Each footfall was smooth and soft as I have come to expect from Speedgoat. I also did not get any burning on the bottom of my feet like I did the few times I wore the Challenger 7s. Highly recommend you at least try these before anything else in trail shoes.

I’m no expert, but it feels about the same as the SG5. Comfy, Grippy, and durable.
