My wife loves these shoes! She wishes she had these for her half marathon. She already training for the next one.

Love my new shoes, it’s like I’m running on a cloud. My his aren’t screaming at me after doing a mile in these. The laces are terrible, made out of plastic and won’t stay tied, even when double knotted.

I run/walk 12 miles daily, 7 days a week usually. It did take one wearing to get used to the slight adjustment to my gait from these shoes. Live the support to feet , knees, and back. I now own both colors of CeiloX1 as well as 10 pair of CarbonX, and several Clifton8/9.

The shoe is great in every aspect. The upper is comfortable and has a comfortable heel lock system. The tongue is super comfortable, but could use a tiny bit of padding towards the top eyelets as the tough laces create a bit of bite when tying shoes super tight, this is a minor inconvenience. Not really an issue, but personal preference. This shoe is way more comfortable than other top competitors that I’ve tried. First time wearing them, I ran 16 miles in them. No blisters, no pain during exercise, and no pain the next day in my feet or shins. Would highly recommend.

I’m I’m love with this shoe. I have it in both colors, and I run in it every day. I check back consistently to see if I can get it in a new color. Please, Hoka, make this in pink and purple. I’d buy multiple pairs if you did.

Worked my legs, stomach, back

I usually wear 7/5 but I always buy size 7 on this brand.

So I have really really tested this shoe and I’m not done yet! I first brought them to a 25k race in Long Island in February with bad weather and my feet and legs were ok. Traction was fine and they kept my feet dry. I had no blisters, laces were fine cuz I always double knot, they kept my posture good, and the rocker/bounce was excellent. I then used them for a quick half marathon in Atlantic City. My time was a bit slower than usual but they felt great the whole time and I blame my extra 10 minutes on an unsafe boardwalk with nails and loose wood. They navigated me well through it all however and I felt quite stable despite all I had to deal with. I had also never ran on such an old boardwalk either. Last I used them for the 2024 TCS London Marathon. They were quite comfy the entire time. I had to retie once due to all the hills and turns so I put em through a lot there! Tons of stop and go with costumes, bridges, water stops, walk runners, or spectators getting in the way etc. but they kept me stable and I only had one big issue with my left calf which was ongoing for years and not due to the shoes. Toes all in tact and not one blister! Tired legs and feet were my only issue and very normal a little TLC and recovery didn’t fix. I even felt ok to walk home to the train the next day and traveled all the way back to US /CT in my Hoka recovery slides which were heavenly. I’d give em a 10 if I could. I may use them again in Berlin and NYC. They have zero issues on the bottom too which is shocking. I have no wear at all and that’s after lots of training and racing! Well done Hoka! They may go another 2 marathons before I need the next pair to fly in Tokyo or Boston! Stars here I come! Fly humans fly!

Got my second pair in Frost/Cerise after having enjoyed the first pair in the orange colorway. The Cielo X1 is a very fun, bouncy, and propulsive shoe for races and speed workouts but is also quite stable and adapts well to easy-to-moderate paces very well. The new Frost/Cerise colorway is really nice as I’m a fan of clean white colorways and it also has normal laces instead of the ribbon type on the first two colorway versions. The Cielo X1 is definitely one of the top few contenders for the ‘Running Shoe of 2024’ for me. I understand that it’s not for everyone. It’s not the fastest and lightest racing shoe out there, but it is fun and fast and is versatile enough for a variety of paces. I love it!

Fastest Hoka to date. PB Boston and second pair just arrived!

I was looking for a new race shoe, and I settled on the cielo x1. And I could not be more happier. I ran in them for a 1.5 hour long run just to test them out. I am just wanted to keep running and pushing my pace. So comfortable, the only issue I had was one of the laces came undone when I had about 30 minutes left. Not too big of deal. I can’t wait to fully race in them soon.

Incredible at all paces! Worth every penny.

I have these shoes in all three colors. The blue and red pairs have plastic laces, which was my only complaint. I ordered the white pair and found that they have normal cloth laces, which is a huge improvement.
These are my favorite running shoes. I run six miles a day in these shoes. They’re bouncy and lightweight. The white pair feels a bit more narrow than its predecessors, but I love it nonetheless.

Lots of cushioning, stable .. I’ve had a hip replacement, and have really bad arthritis in my knee. These shoes help me power walk without pain and I can go much farther with ease . Takes a bit to get used to the spring in your step but these are the best pair of Hoka..
Bricie414 –
I own all four colors now, and in a previous review, I’d asked for this shoe in feminine colors like pink or purple. Y’all heard me! Lol. I love this color combo. The improved laces are perfection. Beautiful shoe with so much bounce. I fly through my run.
Rapharuns –
Better than alphaflys, endorphin pros and anything on the market but oh boy those laces are bad. They keep coming off even with double knots, so frustrating and never happened to me before.
Pierre –
Shoe is fast and provides great support.First mile in them I ran 30 seconds faster than any other mile I ran in months. Even at 260 miles my legs feel better during and after a run than a pair of new Kirvanas I m trying out..Downsides are the side of the shoe ripped around 260 miles and the top of the toe box seemed low and gave me a bruised toe while running at first.( Was fine eventually/stretched out after about 50 miles and have the same issue with the Kirvanas.)Gonna try other brands due to the toe issue and early ripping but for the most part good shoe.

I normally wear a size 6.5 just for walking but I’ve been running in a size 7 saucony triumph 21. The cielo x1 in women’s 6.5 fits like a 7 and I was happy about that. There was enough room in the toe box. No hot spots on the foot while running BUT I started to get a blister on the back on my heels during my long run. Never had that issue with other shoes before. Pretty disappointed since the price is so high. After 2hrs of running, my Achilles started to ache. That was probably because I got tired. Overall 8/10. Please fix the heal with more padding and comfort.
Becks –
I’ve ran in these twice, a short and a long run to try them out before my marathon and LOVED them! I can’t wait to race in these They have so much bounce and help propel you forward. Super lightweight and fabric is breathable. They are on the more expensive side, but I think it’s worth it. Great job Hoka! This will be the shoe I race in.

I love it , I purchased 2 pairs in different colours, they are very comfortable and the color is beautiful, I only have one problem though, the laces don’t stay tied requiring a double knot each and every time.

Using this for race day – tested out on a short 5 mi run and it was so nice. The bounce and energy return feels so good. Took it out for my half marathon time trial and they did what I needed them to do. Was concerned about the fit on the upper – I have a wide foot but playing with the lacing fixed it up. Really wished there was a wider foot option for these kind of race shoes. Got my normal size and it’s a snug fit but if u can get the lacing figured out you’ll be fine.
I know people have mentioned the weight being a detractor but I didn’t really feel as tho they were that much heavier than my Mach 6s. The cushion and bounce counter that pretty nice, they’re super responsive and easy to roll thru.
Alfonso –
I have used the Cielo X1 just a couple of times, but they have been great from the very first mile. Really responsive, super comfy and light. I didn’t even have to break them in! My feet felt like they were made to measure
Tito –
On my 2nd pair now had a lot of calf & Achilles issues with other shoes .these have me running pain free and loving it
Alex671 –
I ordered the Hoka Cielo X1 not specifically for racing but for speed workouts. I ordered a US Men’s size 9.5 and the fit is perfect. The upper of the shoe fits like a glove. I did not experience any hot spots or irritation during any of my runs. It is, as the reviews say that it is difficult and tight when you initially put your foot into the shoe but once it’s in there it’s secured. I am also happy to say that it came with normal shoelaces as opposed to the ribbon-type that everyone seems to be complaining about.
The midsole is where all the magic is. It’s soft yet responsive and bouncy. The combination of the soft and responsive midsole with its rocker geometry and the winged carbon fiber plate just makes you want to run fast even without trying. I am by no means a fast runner but this shoe always makes want to run faster than I normally should. Importantly, the outsole rubber is fantastic and had zero issues even when running on wet pavement.
Unfortunately, the downsides of the Cieolo X1 is its weight. My men’s size 9.5 came in at 9.0 ounces on both pairs. If this shoe is really intended for race day, it needs to shed more weight. Also, if there was one other improvement I would suggest it would be to have a one-piece midsole instead of a deconstructed one for a more natural feel underfoot. When running in the Cielo X1, you can feel that gap under your mid-foot with each stride.

After trying and finding the right size to be able to enjoy this footwear. Well, yesterday afternoon I went for a run and on mile 10 a section of the sole came off in half, which made it annoying to continue running the last 2 miles.
Cielo X1 is a very comfortable shoe, a little tight since my foot is a little wide in the toe box area.
The design itself tends to push you forward making you can or should go faster.
It’s a shame that I have to return them (for now) I’ll try another brand (I’m a big fan of Hoka)
If I recommend this shoe, only for now I will choose to return it and in the future I will buy it again.
