- Built at the intersection of road and trail, the new Men’s Challenger 7 has been completely reimagined from the ground up. Combining a simplified mesh upper with a soft new foam, we’ve increased the stack height for a plusher feel and added proprietary rubber to the bottom unit, along with a reimagined outsole design for the best all-terrain ride yet. Inspired by gravel tires, we’ve cued up smaller, tightly spaced lugs in center and larger, more aggressive lugs at the perimeter designed for improved traction on uneven terrain.

Better and BEST than version 6! Plan on using at work the black and colorful everyday!!! Version 6 lacks comfort after 100miles. Hopefully version 7 will last longer. No break in period!
Bigfoot15 –
I’ve always worn the Challenger models over the years and this one is by far the best! Fit is great, extremely light and the extended lugs make it even better on rough trails.

The description said these were in the plush cushioning category so I decided to give them a try. I have not been disappointed. I bought in mens as they are usually darker and brighter colors and more roomy for ly toe area. I work in the OR and on my feet the entire day. My feet have not been sore or tired. These are my favorites along with the Cliftons. Used to be an ASICS fan but have been converted to Hoka fan.
Nick –
Show is nice and fits like it should. Only thing is that it’s rated to be on the far side towards plush but they aren’t as soft as the bondi 7s .
Tombspawn –
I really like the cushion in this new model. I miss the tread of the prior model, however. I ended up sending these back because I need a wider toe box and minor/moderate stability shoe. I wanted to love these but my knees refused.

I got these a week ago, wore them for a day walking around doing daily things. Put them on for a 100 mile race on Friday and I was shocked at how well my feet felt even after I dropped at mile 72. No blisters, no missing toenails, no problems in the foot area. My quads are a different story lol. Honestly I’ve been wearing Altra for the last three years and after I got my first pair of Hoka’s at Christmas my knee, hip, ankle and foot pain has subsided considerably. I ran two more events in Altra since Christmas (Froggy hollow 9hr, Dark side 8hr) and both times experienced the same old issues. That’s the reason I decided to buy these Trail Hoka’s. Best decision I made for my feet since I started running back 2019.

Plenty of cushion! Sole has lots of grip!

OK, I get all the buzz about Hoka now. The wide base makes for excellent stability and an easy to find sweet spot – far better than any of the Brooks Beast and related heavy support shoes I’ve been using for the last 15 years. Also, the comfort is outstanding. I’m hooked.
Sam –
I use for othopedic reasons post foot surgery.

These shoes are the most comfortable shoes I have bought in a long time. I am 6’2 255 lbs, and my shoe size is 15. The shoe is true to size fit. I am very pleased with my purchase.

Nice padding for arthritic joints. Wears out quickly

This is my fourth Challenger ATR. I started with a 3 then moved on to a 5, a 6, and now a 7. I wear a wide size and the ATR wide has always had a great feel right out of the box.

I love these for everything I have used them for so far: road, mellow trails and technical trails in the wet and dry. They fit my foot better than the speedgoat and I like the cushioning and ground feel better than the Mafate Speed.

Hoka makes some awesome trail shoes and I didn’t expect anything less from the Challenger 7. I appreciate the fast shipping as the shoes arrived in just a couple of days. Shoes fit true to size and first impressions were good. They felt great. I immediately took them for a 5 mile run, no hot spots or pains of any kind. I enjoyed the Hoka pillow soft ride. Currently at 50 miles and the shoes are still awesome. They perform as advertised being great on the road and transition to smooth trails nicely. My only complaint would be at 50 miles there’s some marginal wear on the soles, but nothing terrible. I expect 300 miles or so should be achievable.

Shoe fits and is comfortable. Quality is very poor. Material split across the top of the after one month is use.

Ran a hard canyon 15 miler right out of the box with almost no issues. I have wide feet and usually wear wide Altras but these fit and wore well besides a hot spot on my left outer big toe due to the “kinda wide” sizing. Heavy rains the day before trashed the trails and these shoes maintained traction the entire run. Great shoe to eat tons of offroad miles in. My one gripe would be WIDE NEEDS TO BE WIDE, not kinda wide… some of us have Fred Flinstone feet out here..

I ordered the Challenger in a 14W on 10/28/23 – I’ve had them just over a month. While they’re comfortable and fit really nicely, the fabric on the inside of the top of the shoe already has a hole where it’s completely rubbed through the fabric on the right shoe and the left isn’t far behind.
I haven’t even worn these every day and have only run in them a few times – mostly daily wear, gym, walking etc. I’m 6’2/220 so not small but not huge, really disappointing as these are comfortable and fit great, but the durability has been terrible.
Massimo –
I had a pair of the Challenger 6’s and LOVED them– Perfect fit, balance, and support. The 7’s feel a lot more stiff, less supportive, slightly too tight in my normal size yet too big a half size up. The heel cup also feels too shallow and the only way to feel confident running in them was to tie them uncomfortably tight. Bummer!
Walter –
Cushioning is great, as for all Hokas. But it felt narrow, I could not wear without it hurting my feet where I had bunion surgery. Then after a month or so the inside of the heel started to come apart and cause a blister. I expected more….
John –
Was told a medium width would be good but I need a wide version
Muleyman –
I put almost 900 miles on my Challenger 6 shoes in 5 months last spring. My Challenger 7s have more wear on the soles after less than half the miles in the last 3 months. Same roads and trails. The 7 is also developing a tear on the inside of the heel for no obvious reason. I loved the 6s and was hoping for even better with these but they’ve disappointed.
Paul –
Love the look and design but the are way to narrow and hurt my feet, I can even wear them!
Jenine –
We received these sneakers and they are great in so many ways. But after only two days of wearing them they have already started to fray! These are not cheap by any means and I bought them because they came highly recommended by my son’s doctor as he has flat feet. I’m including a picture. Hopefully someone can do something about this.
Jeffrey –
The souls totally fell apart after a few months. With the price, it should be more durable.
LSea –
After only 3 trail runs, the studs on the bottom of the shoe are peeling. And not just one, at least 5. Terrible quality. Find another shoe.
