With Neuromas returning I’ve been looking for a wider toe box runner shoe. Hoka Bondi 7 was good. I researched the changes made from 7-8 and didn’t see anything about a narrower fit in the toe box. Definitely, the rubber sole has been widened (yikes, by a lot), but the actual upper is so narrow I can’t wear it. I don’t have wide feet I just need room for the toes not to bind. I used to wear Hokas a lot, One One Stinson and their old boot, due to ankle issue and surgeries – and loved them. Hoka did the same thing with the Stinson – one year they were too narrow. Thank you Zappos for making it easy to try on and send back.

Previously I tried Bondi 7’s and returned as are they fit a size bigger. I tried the Bondi 8’s and found they were very narrow in toe box area and smaller in length, I loved the style and the arch support, but too tight so I returned and am now awaiting half size bigger when it is back in stock.

These shoes were so comfortable and supportive right out of the box. Took them for a walk right away. I needed a wide platform to walk on after knee surgery. I feel very stable and confident walking in these shoes. I would highly recommend! Beautiful color combo also.
Janet –
So disappointing! I’ve waited so long for the Bondi 8 because it was supposed to fit like the Bondi 6 did. This version is too narrow through the toe box. The shoe rubs against my baby toe on both sides and when the shoe is off I can see a “piece” on the inside front edge of the shoe which causes rubbing and blisters.

I’ve never needed a wide before. These are narrow. They look and feel great otherwise

I have the Hoka Bondi 7’s. Unfortunately the 8 has a narrower toebox. The platform is wider but not the uppers. I had not read that anywhere, though I was concerned, since my neuromas are reemerging. Same thing happened with my first pair of Hoka’s many years ago. One One Stinson – one year they’re great, next year the toebox is too narrow. Had to send the 8 back, probably won’t try Hoka again. Love affair was short lived..

The shoes are very comfortable but they look like clown shoes I embarrassed to wear them with the base that wide in the tow box so I’m sending mine back I only wore them around the house for a day and realized I couldn’t go out of the house wearing them. Too afraid of people thinking my foot looks like a clown. I will go back to the Hoka Bondi 7
Jen –
These are really strangely designed. The base is super wide, but the actual upper where your foot goes is super narrow. I don’t consider my feet to be wide and these felt tight. It was an easy decision to send them back. Not sure what they were trying to do with this design.
I ended up going with New Balance Fresh Foam More v3. Great shoe! Very comfy. Give it a try.

I agree that there’s look like clown shoes & aren’t as nice or as comfortable as the 7’s. I will stick with the 7’s & return these. They look cheap & goofy! Thin, flimsy mesh & it looks like a shoe on top of a piece of foam. I don’t get it. Why did they have to go change a good thing?

Fit was perfect but I couldn’t get over how. Much wider the base was compared to bondi 7. Must be 1” on either side. I felt it looked ridiculous
Saira –
I bought this pair of Hoka after much research and trying on various pairs at local shoe stores. Bought from Zappos coz only they had this color in the style I wanted

The sizing was perfect. The fit was different than the Bondi 7. I love the 7s but this 8s fit is different and better in my book. The Bondi 8 hugs your foot which for me is a better fit. It has a grip that holds your foot in all the right places. The tongue is almost a plus in my book. I love that once the sneaker is on, it’s on no need to adjust anything—a brilliant upgrade. On the foot, it looks sleek and almost pretty. Give them a try you won’t regret it.

A big disappointment from last model. They are definitely way more narrow and also run smaller as other people report, In addition, they are way less durable, the protective coating that was on toe edges of previous model is gone, so it’s just mesh on top. This doesnt provide the provide the protection that I always look for while working in healthcare. Returned and ordered pair of previous model. Hoka please replicating previous model. It was popular for a reason.

I’m so disappointed in the Bondi 8. It felt smaller, narrower, and with MUCH less cushion than the Bondi 6 or Bondi 7: The show new, but not improved. People with foot issues like planter fasciitis and neuromas buy these shoes. It seems they are no longer catering to us loyal customers who actually need these shoes to function.
Soozy –
Love these shoes!!! Hoka has the best running shoe I’ve ever worn hands down or should I say feet down!
Renee –
The color on the side is wrong. I had to return it unfortunately because it wasn’t a thin two strips of yellow coloring it was orange first a deep Carl thick layer on the side rubber. May be OK for some young people not for this senior citizen. I like color but not like a circus to many colors and not showing the proper color for the second time on a sneaker I bought. The picture is not reflective of the shoe , unfortunately

The shoes are comfortable, but the wear out way too fast for the price that I paid. I’ve had a few pairs and they all have the same issue. The inside of the heel wears a hole through it to the point wear the plastic is poking out and rubbing your heel to the point of bleeding. This is happening after about 6 months of wear. Hoka is also not honoring their warranty on this product. Additionally, when I sent the shoes in for the warranty claim, they’ve lost the shoes.
Amber –
Ugh. Why do companies do this? Ruin a good shoe. I have the Bondi 7 and love it. Bondi is a cushion shoe and the 7 has cushion. The 8? Not so much. Hard as a rock. Hoka replied saying they’re always looking for ways to improve a shoe and changing foams, etc to make shoes lighter. Not a good move because the cushion that Bondi is known for is now no longer there. So disappointing!
Mindy –
Besides these looking like Smurfette’s running sneakers, these are super comfortable. I got these today and this was the only shoe size/color combo available. I’ve been hobbling around with Plantar fasciitis issues for a few months now. ASICS Kayano is my go to shoe, but when I put a pair of these on today and wore them all day while walking miles, I don’t know if I can go back to ASICS. The heel comfort and arch support is better then I would have imagined. If I was a runner these shoes would be amazing, as a walker they are top notch. Will be purchasing more of these soon, just not the smurfette ones!

Comfortable right out of the box.

Having a wide size with planter fasciitis and pronation with tendency to turn or be unsteady on an ankle, I have usually bought other brands. But last year I tried the Bondi 7 and while nice still had both toe box issues and pronation issues but really loved the sneakers. Last week I purchased the Bondi 8, as the design clued me in to MAYBE somebody had figured the issues out and WOW what a difference! The Bond 8, has a more splaid sole offering a ‘check’ against the pronation and ankle flipping, and it has a better wrap-around of material at ankle AND better toe box. Wider toe box. I can choose my socks more easily to wear. I wear my sneakers to run around in daily job of teaching, stairs, distances between schools, currently constantly in hospitals and rehabs for family at fast moments and they are making it possible for me to turn on a dime to help without losing my balance. And they are LIGHT on the feet. The only comment of suggestion is that the designers need to make the insole slightly wider or different design to make the interior edge at the arch not rub. It requires ME to figure that issue out and for the price it’s an easy fix by the company. FIX IT PLEASE. Outside of that I highly recommend these Bondi 8’s for everyday wear.

I love this shoes. For my plantar fasciitis they work super! But I ordered and I got used shoes.
Klaudia –
Loved the shoe but they are starting to fall apart at the sole less than a month after I bought them. For $150 I expected them to be more sturdy
Jean –
I have worn these for over a month. I just ordered a second pair. I cannot understand reviews that say the toebox is too narrow! This is the widest toebox on any of my Hoka’s and I have 4 different pair. When I first tried them on I thought they looked like clown shoes because the toebox is SO wide! I love them for exactly that reason. I have bunions, wear orthotics and have foot and ankle arthritis. With all of these issues, these are exactly what I need.

I usually wear Cliftons, but wanted something a little more supportive. Plus, I like the look of the Bondis.
